About Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios, formerly MGM studios, is the smallest of the theme parks. Despite its size there is a lot to do. Most of the rides and attractions are based around films. Hollywood Studios has seen a lot of changes over the last few years losing its Back Lot Tour area and having 2 new lands - Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge® and Toy Story Land.

Places to Eat

There are only 6 sit down restaurants in Hollywood Studios, each has a diffent cuisine and are worth visit. The Hollywood Brown Derby is a fine dining restaurant which also has an outdoor courtyard bar where you can get cocktails in the sun. at the Sci-Fi Diner (pictured) you eat your dinner sitting in a car at a drive through movie. Hollywood and Vine is a buffet restaurant with Disney Characters at both breakfast and dinner. All tastes are catered for.

Things to do

Star Wars Galaxy's edge is the newest addition to Hollywood Studios and has 2 new thrill rides. At Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run you get to Fly the Millenium Falcon on a mission with each person having a specific job to do. You can then join the resistance to battle the First Order at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. There are also places where you can buy blue and green milk either with or without alcohol or try coctails from out of this world at Oga's Cantina.

There are shows for all ages including Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage, Frozen, Muppet Vision and the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. These can be great options to escape the inevitable thunderstorms during the summer.Frozen is a sing-a-long show which is perfect if you have small children.

One of my favourite rides at Disney is the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The pre-show prepares you for what is about to happen before you enter an elevator car and get thrown to the top of the tower and dropped down again. There are different patterns for the drops so you never know whether you will go up or down first!
