About EPCOT

The concept for EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) was designed initially by Walt Disney to be a city of the future. His vision was to have approx. 100 people living on the site. When Walt Disney died, the plan was changed to turn Epcot into a park. EPCOT is split into 4 areas - World Showcase, World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature. World Showcase encircles World Showcase Lagoon. it is a 1.3 mile walk around World Showcase. There are 11 countries represented. These are China, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Morocco, Norway, Mexico and Italy.

Places to Eat

EPCOT has the best choice of restaurants. Each country in the World Showcase serves food that is authentic and prepared by chefs from that region. you can get excellent sushi at Teppan Edo, Pasta at Tutto Italia Ristorante or a great steak at Le Cellier Steakhouse. You can also dine with characters at Garden Grill Restaurant and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. There is something for any taste.

Things to do

Epcot has recently had 2 new rides added. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure has you become the size of a rat and explore the kitchen with Remy. This ride can be found in the France Pavillion. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the latest addition and is a fast paced roller coaster. This ride repalced Ellen's Energy Adventure, which was a slow paced family ride.

At Test Track you can build your own concept car and take it for a spin on the track reaching a speed of 64.9 mph or if you prefer you can board a hang glider and visit world landmarks on Soarin' Around the World. You can even go and meet Figment at Journey Into Imagination With Figment. There is fun to be had by all.

If rides are not your thing, each country has its own show or entertainment. There is The American Adventure, Beauty and the Beast sing-along, or Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360. There ais also a large stage where music acts play durin the Festival of the Arts, Food and Wine Festival and the Flower and Garden Festival.
